LET'S CELEBRATE THE RICHNESS OF LESBIAN FILMS

12th Edition – 19-26 September 2020

Some Prefer Cake, the international festival of lesbian film, is back for its twelth edition in a new unusual reduced version from the 19th to the 26th of September 2020, under the artistic direction of Comunicattive, feminist association and communication agency based in Bologna and involved in the promotion of the festival since its first editions.

Designed and created in 2007 by lesbian activist Luki Massa and Marta Bencich, the festival is promoted by the Luki Massa Association with the goal to continue Luki’s work focused on supporting indipendent movies, artistic projects and political narratives. Due to current difficulties relating to the sanitary emergency Covid-19, we have chosen to run our festival online. We do this, in spite of the moment of great uncertainty that is currently penalizing the independent cinema and bottom-up cultural productions. However, since we are all experiencing precarious times in terms of economic wealth, we want our festival to be totally accessible and entirely free throughout Italy. A lesbian and feminist themed film, two documentaries and a selection of short movies will be available every day for 8 days on the independent platform openddb.it. Moreover, we will offer other types of contents such as interviews to the movie directors, workshops and book presentations both online and offline.

Whoever is willing to contribute to the edition, self-produced as always, will be able to donate at the end the screening, directly on openddb.it

WAITING FOR MOVIE THEATRES TO BE OPEN AGAIN FOR EVERYONE, WE INVITE YOU FROM THE 19TH TO THE 26TH OF SEPTEMBER TO ORGANIZE SMALL GATHERINGS IN YOUR HOMES, GARDENS, CULTURAL ASSOCIATION’S HEADQUARTERS, SMALL COLLECTIVE SCREENINGS OF THE FESTIVAL. THESE CAN BE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR STIMULATING SMALL GROUPS OF POLITICAL AND AFFECTIVE “CONJUNCTION” AND RECREATING THE EXPERIENCE OF “WATCHING TOGETHER” IN A NEW SELF-ORGANIZED WAY, TAKING CARE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
