INVISIBLE WOMEN Directed by Alice Smith – UK, 2018 DOCUMENTARY, 25’ - ITALIAN PREMIERE A short documentary exploring the untold story of the North West’s LGBTQ past over the last 50 years through two women’s incredible journey of rebellion and activism. Angela Cooper and Luchia Fitzgerald have spent the last half a century fighting for their rights as women and as lesbians. MARIELLE AND MONICA Directed by Fábio Erdos – Brasile/UK, 2018 DOCUMENTARY, 25’ - ITALIAN PREMIERE The LGBT activists resisting Bolsonaro's Brazil. Marielle Franco, a Brazilian LGBT and human rights activist, was killed in March 2018. Her widow, Monica Benicio, continued her fight for better treatment of the poor, the LGBT community and black Brazilians. The case of her murder has still not been solved and, as the police investigation drifts, Monica is a plunged into a new crisis: the probable election of Jair Bolsonaro.
Directed by Annabel Jankel – UK/Svezia, 2018 In this captivating adaptaion of Fiona Shaw’s beloved novel, Anna Paquin plays Dr Jean Markham, who has come home to the small Scottish town she left long ago to take over her late father’s practice. But not everyone is pleased to see her return. Striking up a friendship with Lydia, the mother of one of her young patients, Jean marvels at the woman’s vivaciousness, unaware it’s a mask Lydia wears to hide her rapidly deteriorating home life.

Directed by Elisa Bozzarelli and Alice Daneluzzo – Italia, 2018 Melmaridè (divorced in dialect) is the story of group of women from Piacenza, a small city in the north of Italy, who challenged the dis¬dain of their families of the institutions joining the voices of the wider international feminist movement; they founded a Feminist Collective first and later started a public women’s health clinic and counselling center. The clinic was a self-directed, self-financed and free of charge struc¬ture that offered information on birth control, medical examinations, and help getting an abortion, when abortion was still illegal in Italy.

That is the framework in which her autobiographical and choral documentary film was conceived.

When she gradually stops writing due to dementia, an unexpected friendship with filmmaker Michelle Memran reignites her spontaneous creative spirit and triggers a decade-long collaboration that picks up where the pen left off.
